Seventy seven per cent of people in Croatia do not want to see the former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader back in politics, a new survey shows.Conducted on a sample of 600, Nova TV research asked Croatians about their take on the latest political drama developing in the country. The former PM who stepped down before the end of his mandate in 2009 requested a reactivation of his parliamentary mandate last week. More than half of Croatians (57 per cent) see the move as an attempt to secure political immunity. The former PM is implicated in some fraudulent affairs currently under investigation.Sanader returned from a month-long trip to the United States in order to testify in front of the commission inquiring into the privatization of national oil company Ina. In his testimony he said that, contrary to her claims, the current PM Jadranka Kosor had been aware of the final details of the controversial contract between Ina and the Hungarian MOL, the single largest shareholder of the company. And while people may not want Sanader back in politics, a higher percentage (42 per cent) believe his version of the story when it comes to the privatization of Ina, while only 30 per cent believe Jadranka Kosor. Some 47 per cent say the country should bring forward the parliamentary elections which are scheduled for next year, the daily Jutarnji List writes.
