Floods cause 33 million Euros damages to Dubrovnik-Neretva County
This month's floods in Dubrovnik-Neretva county have caused a total of 245 million kunas (33.12 million Euros) of damage to the towns of Metkovic, Opuzen, Ploce and the municipality Kula Norinska.The County head Nikola Dobroslavic has declared the floods a natural disaster for these areas. The final report on the damages must be completed by January 25, 2011.At the beginning of this month, after weeks of rain and high groundwater, the river Neretva reached the highest levels it had been in the last half of the century. It flooded homes, farms, crops, infrastructure, roads and other public property, the Croatian Radio Television (HRT) reports.
