Pticek ordered month-long detention


The former director of the communal enterprise "Parkovi" in Varazdin has been ordered a month-long detention while the investigation in his case continues.Miljenko Pticek is s suspected of having committed 80 acts of abuse of power that have damaged the company and its majority owner the City of Varazdin by close to two million kunas (271,000 Euros). He is said to have pocketed around 500,000 kunas (68,000 Euros).The judge ordered Pticek detained because of fear that he could influence witnesses and the evidence, as well as that he could repeat the same acts for which he is being investigated.The County's State Attorneys Office has requested a freezing of his real estate assets so that he is not able to sell or transfer them to someone else. The court has not yet made its decision as it awaits additional documents.Pticek was removed from the position as the head of the company on Monday. Varazdin
